"Code in Nature: Sound Lens" is an interactive sonification program that intertwines users' vocal expressions with a generative system of algorithms based on Cellular Automata. It visualizes the sonorous balance of nature's elements:air, earth, fire, and water, revealing the ecological principles of interrelation and mutual influence of human, nature and computation.

This project is open-ended. As participants utter the phrase “What am I,” the program reflects on their inherent connection to nature, transforming their voice in real-time with sounds modulated by the elements' dance. It's an inquiry into humanity's role in the natural world, urging self-reflection through a technological mirror of our environment.

The interface is designed to look like a cell phone, one reason is that it represents how we view nature more and more only through the lens of technology; the other reason is that it has a meaning of when our future generation see this with higher-tech devices, they could also see nature through the lens as we did today. The purpose  of this project is to provoke audiences’ thoughts on the relationship between human and nature.
